Afterlife π―οΈ v1.0
The Afterlife mod adds a complete afterlife system to The Sims 3, including a cemetery, burials, remembrance of deceased Sims, grave care, and interactions with ghosts. The behavior of spirits depends on how the living honor the memory of the deceased: forgotten ghosts may return and disturb the living.
Description
β¨ A New Story of Life and Death in The Sims 3
Afterlife is a large-scale mod by Hestaksa SimsLab that completely reimagines death, funerals, and relationships between living and deceased Sims.
Now, a Sim's death is no longer simply the disappearance of a character and the appearance of a tombstone. It is the beginning of a new story, with room for farewells, memories, family traditions, and even reunions with loved ones who are no longer among the living.
The mod adds a complete funeral system, an organized town cemetery, memorial portraits, spiritual connections between generations, good and evil ghosts, and the ability to call real ghost hunters.
π―οΈ FUNERALS AND FAREWELL CEREMONIES
- When a member of the active household dies, preparations begin for their final farewell.
- A special funeral table with a coffin appears in the home. Relatives have time to come to terms with their loss and prepare for the ceremony.
- Approximately three in-game days later, the day of the funeral arrives.
- β°οΈ The coffin containing the deceased Sim is transported to the cathedral, where a solemn farewell ceremony takes place.
- π₯ Relatives and invited guests gather for the ceremony.
- π The cemetery caretaker delivers a farewell speech, while those attending can remember the departed Sim and pay their final respects.
- πΉ After the ceremony, the burial takes place. A grave with memorial decorations and a portrait of the deceased appears in the town cemetery.
From this moment on, the Sim becomes part of the Afterlife world, and their loved ones can visit the burial site.
π³ THE CEMETERY β A SEPARATE WORLD
In Afterlife, the town cemetery becomes the central burial place for all deceased residents of the town. No more scattered tombstones on random lots!
- π‘ Regardless of where a Sim dies β at home, on the street, or on a community lot β their tombstone is automatically moved to the cemetery.
- πͺ¦ Graves are neatly arranged in consecutive rows, creating an organized burial ground.
- πΌοΈ Each grave is accompanied by a memorial portrait of the deceased Sim, allowing future generations to see what the town's former residents looked like.
- πΏ As the town develops, the cemetery gradually fills with new graves, preserving the history of entire generations.
- But the cemetery is more than just a place of remembrance. It is a real home for ghosts!
- π» Ordinary spirits reside exclusively within the cemetery grounds and do not randomly appear in homes or on the streets of the town.
- They can leave the cemetery only under special circumstances provided by the mod's mechanics.
However, deceased members of the active household have a special remembrance system that allows living relatives to maintain a connection with their departed loved ones.
π REMEMBERING THE DECEASED β A CONNECTION BETWEEN TWO WORLDS
Death no longer means the complete end of a relationship. In Afterlife, living Sims can maintain a spiritual connection with their deceased relatives. To do this, they must visit their graves and honor the memory of those who have passed away.
- π· Bring flowers.
- π Lay memorial wreaths.
- π―οΈ Visit the graves of loved ones.
- β€οΈ Perform acts of remembrance and preserve family traditions.
Each of these actions helps strengthen the spiritual connection between a living Sim and a deceased one. The more often a Sim visits a loved one and cares for their grave, the stronger this invisible bond becomes.
And one day, it may become so strong that the boundary between the two worlds temporarily disappears...
π€ GOOD SPIRITS β REUNITING WITH THOSE YOU LOVE
One of the most touching features of Afterlife is the opportunity to reunite with a deceased relative.
If a living Sim regularly visits a loved one's grave and maintains a strong spiritual connection with them, they gain the opportunity to see their spirit once again.
And this will not be a random ghost appearance!
- β¨ The deceased relative can become visible specifically to the Sim who has maintained a strong connection with them.
- π€ They can embrace after a long separation.
- π¬ Talk and communicate with each other.
- β€οΈ Spend time together as if they had never been apart.
- πΌ Take part in activities together and interact with each other.
- βοΈ And even spend an entire in-game day together!
But most importantly, such a reunion can happen again. If the living Sim continues visiting the grave, caring for the burial site, and maintaining the spiritual connection, they will be able to reunite with their deceased loved one again.
This makes it possible to preserve relationships between generations and spend time once more with those who are no longer among the living.
π«οΈ FORGOTTEN SOULS β WHEN MEMORIES FADE
However, not every spirit remains kind. In Afterlife, deceased relatives can sense when the living stop remembering them.
π± During spring and βοΈ summer, the system tracks whether the active household pays attention to the graves of their deceased relatives.
If no one visits a grave or leaves memorial offerings during this period, the spirit may become angry.
π In autumn, on one particular day, a forgotten ghost may leave the cemetery and unexpectedly appear in the home of its relatives.
And unlike a good spirit that comes to reunite with loved ones, this visitor has very different intentions.
π» It may disturb the household, cause trouble, and interfere with the family's everyday life.
Now the living will have to face the consequences of forgetting their departed loved ones.
But even in this situation, the family still has the opportunity to seek help!
π¦ GHOST HUNTERS β A REAL GHOST HUNT!
When an evil spirit appears in the home, the family can call professional ghost hunters. And these are not merely decorative characters!
Afterlife uses the actual Ghost Hunter profession from The Sims 3: Ambitions expansion pack.
- π A ghost hunter arrives at the lot in response to the call.
- π¦ They take out specialized ghost-catching equipment.
- π» They locate the unwanted visitor and attempt to capture it.
- β‘ A real ghost hunt begins, complete with gameplay actions and visual effects!
However, the outcome depends on how successfully the ghost hunter completes the task.
β
If the ghost is captured
The spirit stops disturbing the family and does not return during the current season. However, this does not mean the problem has been solved forever.
If the relatives still fail to care for its grave, it may return the following autumn.
β If the hunt is unsuccessful
The ghost remains at large.
βοΈ During winter, it gains the opportunity to appear in the family's home again and disturb their peace once more.
π How can repeated visits be prevented?
The most reliable way is to remember deceased relatives, visit their graves, and leave memorial offerings.
Ghost hunters help deal with the consequences, but only honoring the memory of loved ones can prevent further autumn visits.
π‘ A FAMILY STORY THAT NEVER ENDS
Afterlife makes relationships between generations deeper and more meaningful. Now, every departed Sim leaves behind not just a tombstone, but their own place in the town's history.
- π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Families can preserve the memory of parents, grandparents, and other loved ones.
- πΌοΈ Memorial portraits allow future generations to see those who lived before them.
- π· Visiting the cemetery becomes a meaningful family tradition.
- π€ A strong spiritual connection opens the possibility of reuniting with deceased relatives.
- π And forgetting loved ones may lead to unexpected and far from pleasant consequences.
In the world of Afterlife, death does not erase a Sim's story. It simply begins a new chapter.
β¨ AFTERLIFE β BECAUSE A TRUE CONNECTION DOES NOT END WITH THE FINAL FAREWELL.
